New route will strengthen Copenhagen’s position as air traffic hub

On 9 June airBaltic will launch a direct route between Liepãja in Latvia and Copenhagen airport. The route will be airBaltics fourth destination to Copenhagen apart from Vilnius, Kalinengrad and Riga.  Consequently, Copenhagen will consolidate its position as a junction not only for Scandinavia but also for the Baltic area, writes the airport in its press release.

airBaltic will serve Liepãja with daily departures from Copenhagen at  10.20 and from Liepãja with departures at 18.10.
”Liepãja is a destination in rapid development. Liepãja and Kurzeme in the north western part of Lithuania are attractive to tourists and business life in the region has close strings to Denmark. Prices for the Liepãja-Copenhagen route will start at DKK 210.00 including taxes, says Bertolt Flick, president and CEO at airBaltic.

The number of passengers on the destinations between Copenhagen and the Baltics has grown steadily this year and an increasing share of passengers is using Copenhagen airport to change flights and continue on one of the more than 130 routes which the largest airport in Scandinavia is offering.

Altogether 107,000 passengers travelled in January-March between Copenhagen and the Baltics. airBaltic, SAS and Estonian Air are serving the routes from Copenhagen to the Baltic countries.
