Copenhagen Airport preparing for growth

Last year, passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport grew by 5% to20 million and the traffic increases with almost one million passengers per year. That is why the board of directors and the main shareholders have earmarked almost EUR 700 million. for expansion over the next ten years.

”We have a master plan, according to which we have decided to spend DKK 5 billion on the expansion of the capacity in Copenhagen Airport during the next ten years if it we need to. And we do need to. Contrary to many other European airports we still have vacant sites and lots of capacity on the runways that we haven’t exploited today. Even today we are able to take in more airplanes per hour than for instance Heathrow in London, says managing director of Copenhagen airport to the news bureau Ritzau.

Newly published figures from the international airport organisation ACI show that Copenhagen Airport is Scandinavia’s largest airport, no. 14 in Europe and number 58 worldwide. In terms of international passengers alone, Copenhagen continues to be no. 18 worldwide ahead of the airports of cities such as Los Angeles, Toronto, Rome and Vienna.
